A 4th grader puts Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy into perspective … – 2013-Jan-21 – CultureMap Houston.

I remember sophomore year like it was yesterday, sitting in Professor Smith’s Intro to Public Administration class at Texas Southern University. The semester was rolling and we were watching our PBS documentaries, writing tons of papers and learning all about the zoning process in the U.S. When I learned what zoning really was, I understood the importance of these policies throughout urban-communities and the role I could play in this process. Aurelia, my partner in crime, and I decided to take on a group assignment and research 3rd-Ward land-uses. We created this model of 3rd-Ward, which cost us tons, and presented this project to the class like we were experts. Ralston’s Liquor Store and Lockheart Elementary were the primary foci of our discussion and how it effects its surrounding community. Listen in as this 4th grader from Lockheart Elementary explains the conditions of his community in his conversation to the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. #Justice
